Study of sandflies as vectors of arboviruses in caves in Southeast Asia
Project overview
Investigate the potential role of cave-dwelling sandflies in arbovirus transmission and assess interactions between sandflies, arboviruses and humans.
The project brings together expertise in sandfly biology, vector ecology, arbovirology and epidemiology. It aims to inventory cave-dwelling sandfly fauna in Southeast Asia and assess vector–virus–human interactions. Expected findings will inform vector control, risk prevention and travel medicine as cave tourism expands. The consortium is also intended to support future research on emerging sandfly-borne pathogens.
