HBV-related HCC

HBV expression and the tumour immune microenvironment

Project overview

A translational study of how hepatitis B virus expression shapes the immune microenvironment of resected hepatocellular carcinoma in Vietnamese patients.

Objective

Evaluate the impact of intratumoral and peritumoral HBV expression—particularly spliced HBV RNA coding for HBSP—on the tumour immune microenvironment and immune infiltrate.

Study design

Prospective cohort of 135 patients undergoing liver-cancer resection at K Hospital, divided into HBV-only, alcohol-only and HBV-plus-alcohol groups. Analyses include RT-qPCR, spectral flow cytometry, multiparametric immunofluorescence, bulk and spatial transcriptomics, and Immunoscore® assessment.
